Description

Scapa Glansa is the lightly smoky expression from Scapa Distillery on the Orkney Mainland — a departure from the standard unpeated Skiren, with American oak primary maturation followed by finishing in ex-peated-whisky casks, producing a fruity and creamy Islay-influenced character of peach, vanilla, caramel, and soft smoke from the distinctive Lomond wash still production.

Scapa Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney uses a unique Lomond wash still — one of only a few remaining in Scotland — that produces the characteristic heavier, more textured spirit than a standard pot still. The Glansa’s ex-peated-whisky cask finishing introduces a gentle smoky dimension without the full commitment to a peated production programme — the peated casks’ residual phenolic compounds imparting a soft smokiness that adds complexity to the characteristic Scapa tropical and creamy base from the American oak primary maturation.
