La Luna Mezcal Tequilana
$91.99
La Luna Mezcal Tequilana is a Michoacán mezcal made from Blue Weber agave (commonly used in tequila) farmed and cultivated in Indaparapeo, Michoacán. Lot 2 used an 8-ton batch: 4 tons regular Blue Weber and 4 tons heirloom Criollo Blue Weber — the smaller, more sugar- and flavor-dense variant. Cooked 168 hours, rested 144 hours, fermented 288 hours.
Mezcal from Blue Weber agave is a category that highlights the breadth of Mexican agave-distillation tradition — the same agave varietal used in tequila produces a distinctly different spirit when prepared under traditional mezcal production methods (pit ovens, copper-and-pinewood stills, long fermentation) rather than industrial tequila processes. The heirloom Criollo Blue Weber component adds additional depth to the standard cultivated variety. The Perez Escot family’s 4th-generation Michoacán producers craft this expression at Destiladora Las Azucenas.
