Description

Nakanaka Pretty is a barley shochu (mugi shochu) from Kuroki Honten in Kyushu, Japan — producing shochu since 1885 with a farm-to-bottle philosophy starting with cultivating their own land. Made from barley with koji and the pure water of Kyushu Island.

Mugi (barley) shochu is one of the three classical shochu styles, with the barley base producing a lighter, cleaner, and slightly nutty character distinct from the richer imo (sweet potato) style. Kuroki Honten’s commitment to traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients makes them one of the most respected artisanal shochu producers in Japan, with Nakanaka representing their barley expression alongside Kiroku (imo) and Yamasemi (rice).
