Mars Shinshu Komagatake Yakushima Aged 2020 is a single malt Japanese whisky from Mars Shinshu — distilled at Mars Shinshu in the Nagano Alps and aged at the Yakushima warehouse on Yakushima Island in subtropical southern Japan. The dual-location maturation produces a distinctly different profile from the Nagano-aged expressions, with the subtropical climate accelerating cask interaction.

The Hombo family operates Mars across multiple sites: the main Mars Shinshu distillery in the Nagano Alps and additional aging facilities including the Yakushima warehouse. Yakushima Island’s subtropical climate, with high humidity and warmer temperatures, produces a faster, more concentrated maturation than the cool Nagano environment — making this 2020 release a distinctly different expression of the Komagatake single malt.
