Herradura Coleccion de la Casa Reposado Reserva Scotch Cask Finish is Herradura’s laboratory-concept limited release — a reposado tequila from Hacienda el Cuatro finished in Scotch whisky casks, designed as the finest industry example of how each of the five flavor sources in tequila production (agave, water, fermentation, distillation, and maturation) independently impacts the character of the final product.

The Coleccion de la Casa series represents Casa Herradura’s exploration of non-standard finishing casks applied to their traditional reposado base — the same 11-month American oak aged spirit that defines the flagship Reposado, extended through a finishing period in Scotch whisky barrels. The Scotch cask finish introduces a distinctly different wood and spirit character than the American oak primary maturation: the residual Scotch whisky character in the cask adds the peaty, malty, or sherry notes (depending on the Scotch cask type) alongside the vanilla and caramel of the American oak primary aging. The result is a tequila that demonstrates what maturation specifically contributes when compared against all other production variables — the five-flavor-source concept makes it a reference expression for understanding tequila production rather than simply a finished product.
