Bozal Tepeztate Mezcal Artesanal

Bozal Tepeztate is an artisanal mezcal made from wild tepeztate agave — from Bozal, a brand celebrating the uncharted side of the mezcal world. Herbaceous aromas with a touch of wet stone on the nose, grapefruit zest, orange flower, and pine; fresh florals, white pepper, and minerals on the palate with prominent spice on the finish.

On the steep, precarious hillsides of Oaxaca and Guerrero, wild agaves grow that are heavily sought after by local mezcaleros. Tepeztate — a subspecies of the Marmorata family — has a distinct, erratic leaf structure and flourishes on steep rocky cliffs, producing beautiful yellow-flowering quiotes at the end of its long life. It offers a powerful, floral-dominated aroma. Bozal believes something wild produces a far richer spirit.
