Chairman’s Reserve Original Rum
$29.99
Chairman’s Reserve Original Rum is the flagship St. Lucia blend — first created in 1999 by then-Chairman Laurie Barnard, who conceived a quality rum blended from continuous-still and pot-still rums coming on stream after aging. Rich dark-amber in color, with pot-still richness on the nose carrying cooked banana, caramelized fruits, and spicy oak-derived vanilla; a well-balanced mid-palate of chocolate, golden raisin, tobacco, and clove; and a long, creamy finish.
The component rums are matured separately by still type in American oak casks — Jim Beam, Jack Daniel’s, and Buffalo Trace barrels — then blended and reintroduced to oak for a further six months to marry. The final blend averages roughly 5 years of aging and is bottled at 40% ABV. Recent honors include Gold (Best in Class) at the International Wine & Spirits Competition and Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In St. Lucia, Chairman’s Reserve is enjoyed with coconut water, though it also stands up neat or with a chaser of choice.
