Matsui The Kurayoshi 25 Year is a Japanese single malt whisky aged in white oak ex-bourbon barrels — produced at the Matsui Shuzou distillery in Kurayoshi, Tottori Prefecture, at the foothills of Mt. Daisen.

Kurayoshi sits on the Sea of Japan side, where a wide annual temperature range drives relatively quick maturation. Matsui Shuzou, founded in 1910, also brews sake and distills shochu — a multi-discipline heritage that informs its whisky production. The mineral-rich local water at the foothills of Mt. Daisen is central to the distillery’s character. At 25 years in ex-bourbon white oak, this is among the most extended-age expressions in the Kurayoshi range.
