Description

Yamasemi Kingfisher is a rice shochu (kome shochu) from Kuroki Honten in Kyushu, Japan — producing shochu since 1885 with a farm-to-bottle philosophy starting with cultivating their own land. Made from rice with koji and the pure water of Kyushu Island.

Kome (rice) shochu is one of the three classical shochu styles, with the rice base producing the cleanest and most elegant character of the three (alongside imo/sweet potato and mugi/barley). Yamasemi (“Kingfisher”) represents Kuroki Honten’s rice expression in their lineup alongside Kiroku (imo) and Nakanaka (mugi), completing the classical shochu trio under the same artisanal producer.
